Game: Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee
Developer: Oddworld Inhabitants (ported to Android by Square One)

Marked down from $3 to $1, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee is a 3D puzzle platformer and Xbox port that plays well on the Fire TV platform. I haven’t gotten too far yet, as I’ve been playing a lot of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lately with my son, but what I have played the focus is on puzzles, not action. The plot is all a little grizzly and I wouldn’t recommend it for young children – I’m not playing this with my 9 year old.
Probably the most distracting thing for me is that the game plays in high resolution and looks great, but the movies and cutscenes are straight out of an SD world. It would have been nice if they could have re-rendered all of that content for the remake.
I will circle back and get some more play time in and update the review once I defeat Ganon.
Fire Hardware Compatibility:
Munch’s Oddysee is listed as compatible with every Fire tablet back to the 2012 Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ (but not the only slightly less powerful 7″ 2012 Kindle Fire HD for some reason). On the Fire TV is shows as compatible with 2nd generation devices. Given it’s compatibility with older and less powerful Fire tablets, it’s hard to believe that it wouldn’t work with the 1st gen Fire TV, especially given that the sequel, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, is listed for this device. I’ve reached out to Square One for more information.
I have played this game with a controller on my Fire TV with no problems. I have not played it on touchscreen.
